UX for Scania
Autonomous Buses

Scania is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy trucks, buses, and engines, known for its commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainable transport solutions.

As part of Scania’s push toward autonomous and electrified mobility, I was brought in to design the User Experience for their electric, self-driving shuttles — featured at a major international event as a showcase of future urban transport.

I contributed to the development of a seamless, human-centered experience that translated complex technology into something intuitive, accessible, and trustworthy for the general public.

Skills acquired 💪🏼

Gained hands-on experience in the development of a consistent and intuitive user experience for both passengers inside the shuttle and external road users. This included preparing and conducting user testing using a VR simulator, designing for clarity in complex traffic scenarios, and aligning interaction design with Scania’s future mobility goals.

Challenges 🧗

Creating user journeys and generating concepts for a completely new user environment — a self-driving shuttle operating in a high-traffic, international event with thousands of participants from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Running idea-generation workshops in such a new context meant constantly balancing forward-thinking concepts with practical usability — while also making sure the solutions worked across cultures and languages.
