Test lead for Scania

Scania is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy trucks, buses, and engines, known for its commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainable transport solutions.

They needed support in conducting a between-subject comparison user study with 30 participant to evaluate which type of external communication is most intuitive for an autonomous bus.

My role included coordination and planning for the user study, including logistics, scheduling, and preparation. Me and the team conducted live observations across all sessions, followed by an in-depth analysis of the qualitative and quantitative data — including statistical analysis and actionable recommendations for the product team.

Skills acquired 💪🏼

While organization and data analysis were the expected skill areas, one key lesson was learning how to work effectively with larger-scale user tests. To add long-term value, I took the initiative to deliver a full set of user research templates for Scania — including a user study plan, protocol, data collection and analysis excel templates, presentation and report templates — making future research easier and more consistent for the team.

Challenges 🧗

Handling the observation and analysis of a large-scale user study within just two weeks was a key challenge — and a valuable learning experience. Preparing all templates and structures in advance was a major success factor. This experience boosted my confidence in handling complex, time-sensitive research.
